The Signature Package

The Signature Package offers all of the services in the Premier Editorial and Design and Layout Packages with a significant discount. Beginning with a developmental evaluation, PDC will take your project through all the steps of a developmental edit, a copy edit, and proofreading, with an opportunity for you to review and make changes at each step in the process.   Our designers will then work with you to create a custom design for your book, including cover and interior design. Once you accept our design template, we will layout your book, create an index (if so desired) and send you pages for your review. While you review your pages we will be performing a second proofread and our proprietary fifteen step quality control process. Once we receive you reviewed copy we will incorporate any changes you have made and send you a final set of pages for approval. We will also register your book with the Library of Congress, provide you with an ISBN number, and feature your title on our website. In short, our Signature Package provides white glove excellence with the full gamut of services needed for you to turn a good manuscript into a great book.

Basic Editorial
Package

The Basic Editorial Package covers all of your editorial bases. We begin with a thorough edit focused on consistency of language, the form and style of your manuscript, the organization, and content flow. This electronically marked-up document is then transmitted to you for review.

A project manager is available via email for any questions you might have, and you are given the opportunity to review and either accept, or reject, each and every change our editor has made. You then send the manuscript back to us where we review any changes you have made and accept all of the approved changes before proofreading commences.

Proofreading looks more specifically at grammar spelling, and punctuation. The proofread document is then transmitted back to you along with the marked-up manuscript from the proofread, a summary of changes, and further suggestions or queries for the author.

Premier Editorial
Package

The Premier Editorial Package includes everything in the Basic Editorial Package plus a developmental edit and typemarking mapped to a design you supply or to a custom design we create. You are also assigned a project manager who is available by phone for consultation, questions, changes, or concerns.

The package includes a complete developmental edit by an expert editor who will review your entire manuscript and personally provide feedback on argument/story, strengths and weaknesses, tone and marketability, and specific areas to target for additional improvements.
 
Following the developmental edit, the author is given an opportunity to act on the developmental editor’s changes and suggestions before the manuscript moves on to the copyedit, proofread, and review that is included in the Basic Editorial Package.

Before the final manuscript is sent back to you, it is coded for style and mapped to either a custom design you have or a design we have created for you.

Basic Design and Layout Package

The Basic Design and Layout Package is perfect for authors who are ready for their book to be printed without any additional editorial work being done to it. Choose from hundreds of interior layout styles to find the perfect combination of font, layout, size, and character for your subject.

We estimate the number of book pages with the design you choose and provide a set of sample pages so that you can see how your manuscript will look. One set of changes to design is offered free of charge to customize the design of your book for your specific tastes.

The manuscript is then typeset according to the approved layout and transmitted to you for approval. Corrections to text due to editorial changes made after layout are charged to the author by the hour. Once final pages are accepted, press-optimized set of PDFs is provided to the printer of your choice.

Premier Design and Layout Package

The Premier Design and Layout Package is perfect for the author who really wants to make a statement with more than just the content of his or her book. Our design team will work with you to create a custom layout for the interior of your book, as well as a cover design if you would like.

Samples of the design are presented to you for review and any changes you would like can be made. Once you have approved a design, we will evaluate any art or figures in your manuscript for print quality and proceed to typeset your manuscript into book pages.

Before you see these pages, they are run through an intensive 15-Step Quality Control process that ensures that the pages you see meet and exceed your expectations. Corrections to text due to editorial changes made after layout are charged to the author by the hour. Once final pages are accepted, press-optimized set of PDFs is provided to the printer of your choice.
